Jesus Walks on Water – MATT 14:22-33

We went to church last Sunday, a very hot Sunday I must say. On the first part of the Mass we are slightly unattended on the activities in the church because we are fixing things for my daughter. Then on the start of the GOSPEL my ears is on what the priest is saying. This is the Gospel last Sunday from MATT 14:22-33.

After feeding the five thousand, Jesus sends his disciples ahead of him in a boat to cross the Sea of Galilee. Several hours later in the night, the disciples encounter a storm. Jesus comes to them, walking on the water. This terrifies the disciples and they think they are seeing a ghost. Jesus tells them in verse 27, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Peter replies, “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.” So Jesus invites Peter to come. Peter gets out of the boat and begins walking on the water toward Jesus. But when Peter takes his eyes off Jesus and sees the wind and waves, he begins to sink. Peter cries out to the Lord and Jesus immediately reaches out his hand and catches Peter. As they climb into the boat together, the storm ceases. Then the disciples worship Jesus, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
This is the Gospel, last Sunday which focuses on your faith, in your trust in God. Why Peter sink on the water? it is his faith to God, on the beginning Peter walked on the water but when Peter lost his focus to Jesus, he begin to sank. This is always what happened to us, as a Christian Family, faith has a large effect on our daily lives. God always find a way whenever we have lost our contact to him. There is somebody that we meet or there is something that will happen, then that situation will become a realization to us that we are lacking of time with Jesus.
Yes, it is wrong that, just when there is something that will come up, then that is the only time we will take action. It must be a constant connection to God everyday, put God first in everything that you will do. Right now, we are in the process of “bridging the gaps” and continuing to do what is right and accepted to the eyes of Jesus. We are keeping our faith and trust to our Creator. God Bless All!
