National Bible Week 2012 – Day 7: Sacrifice

The greatest love of all, sacrifice. This is always talked about all over the movies and tv series. Maybe its nature is too good to be true, maybe not. Sacrifice is sometimes on a more common word is unselfishness, but it could mean many things.

Unselfishness is thinking about the others first before self. Maybe it is another term for charity, but charity and unselfishness are all different on their own merit. So where are we going?

God presented Christ as asacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – (NIV)  –Romans 3:25

Charity is the bi-product of being unselfish. Charity is more of helping others without sacrificing resources that may cause of a loss on your part. It is more of an organized help brigade that you offer what is more of excess to you, not actually the part your capital. Unselfishness is more of an act of giving yourself to others without minding your own good. Sacrifice is a higher virtue of unselfishness; it is giving your life, or risking your life in place of the others. It is far higher since you offer yourself in place of the other people you want to help.

What you might do for your neighbor? That was God is trying to send to us when He was on the cross. That’s why Catholics and Christians were more focused in remembering God’s cross. It is the turning point of the whole world that Jesus saves us from our sins in replace on his life and soul. Definitely our lives are useless to others, people engage in taking other people’s lives yet Jesus offered his life to save all of us. He cleaned our hearts and He let us remember Him on that very moment where He was at the cross.

National Bible Week 2012 – Day 6: Love

Love is a very common topic among us. Love conquers all even in print, radio, television and in the internet. Love really makes the world go round; it can break also someone’s world. Love is a very powerful word, both literally and figuratively.

The love has a lot of types or categories, but there is only one love that conquers us all. The love that saves your soul, the love that cleanses your heart, the love of God.

For me there are only three kinds of love, the love of God, the love your parents and the love to your neighbor. No one can ever surpass the love of god to the world, it is the only love that can make a person live, can make the flowers bloom and can make the world go round.

The unconditional love of the parents a love indescribable by words but understandable by heart. A pinch of God’s love materialized through our parents.

1 Corinthians 1:4-5
I always thank God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus. For in him you have been enriched in every way–in all your speaking and in all your knowledge–

The love to our neighbor, it is the love that we all experienced. They say it is a chemical reaction, between two persons. It is a gift from God, a hint that He exists among us.

I believe that it is a gift of God, which you can share to others.

National Bible Week – Day 5: Family

The family is the foundation of our society, and it is the first school where we are taught first on how to move. The family is the first teaches on how to count and when to say yes and when to say no. The family prepares us when we go out to the bigger world, full of opportunities and failures, but there is always a family behind us through our journey in life. Family is always comes first that was I always hear in every movie and every series that tackles family life. Then I build my own family, it is not the culture dictates you that the family comes first, it really is when you have your own.

Proverbs 1:8
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

Family also comes first in the bible. It is the most talk about topic in the bible and all of the stories that Jesus told to His followers. Cain and Abel is about brothers, which is also talks about family, The Prodigal Son and King of Egypt, they all talks about family.

Family is a sacred organization which is bind by love, understanding and faith. It started with the binding of two people who are very much in love with each other. The very same love that will create another member of the family and the two persons will be called parents. Then whatever the circumstances the love that gives understanding to the two persons will create strong foundation to their relationship. Then the faith that keeps them together no matter what happens, whatever stands on their way they will never falter. The very same faith why they believe that God exists, that God will carry them whenever in heavy load.
